Hamsa offers a variety of yoga classes with Michigan 's finest instructors. The instructors are Jivamukti or Kripalu Certified (and Advanced Certified) which involves at minimum an intensive submersion of a 4 week on campus Teacher Training. This among many other trainings they attend provide you with safe, knowledgable and precise instruction. Their love and passion for the Ancient Teachings of Yoga provide you with warm, loving and joyful atmosphere.

Having practiced yoga at many studios, none have the heart that Hamsa has! This studio does not focus on just the physical aspect and benefits of yoga. The teachers here are authentic in that they practice the teachings of yoga in their lives away from the studio. There is never an air of competition here for who has the best Warrior pose or the cutest yoga clothes. Reading from the sacred texts are shared and one learns a deeper meaning of practicing yoga beyond fitness and body health. The teachers and students are like a family, and all people, are welcomed and taught with joy and love. The teachers are what make THIS studio the best in Detroit!

Love it! The instructors feel like family and the studio is located in the heart of the Lake Orion downtown community. The instructors are handsdown the best in town (coming from someone who has tried out a variety of studios). They care not only about the physical aspects of practice, but teach about the ancient underpinnings, as well, including meditation, sanskrit, chanting, scripture and way of life. They are a truly commited bunch and they have done wonders for my mental and physical health!

I am a bit of a "studio gypsy" but always gravitate to Hamsa Yoga's serenity, sincerity, depth, and teacher's filled with love and integrity. It is one of the rare studio's where the teacher's practice both on and off the mat in the true spirit of Yoga. The owner, Phyllis, is always supportive and inviting. Alan never makes his students feel intimidated or less-than-beautiful, as he sees beauty in everyone. His teachings are from a place of wisdom and he remains a humble seeker of the Truth. While other studio's are driven from a place of trends, business, and physicality, Hamsa remains a Yoga Studio at heart.

More than a community feel it is a family! The teachers are all highly trained and Wonderful! At Jivamukti you feel welcome no matter what level, it is the whole package, fun, love, enlightenment and fitness is just a bonus.
