this is my business

Was founded in July 1993 with the objective of bringing back the "honest, neighborhood garage". The down to earth atmosphere at Groovy Automotive has it earned the logo "Home of the Groovy Mechanics", and this outlook works well with the community spirit in Hyde Park. More important than our attitude is the central location of our garage which provides immediate access to the university, downtown and IH35. The principals of the corporation are all native Austinites with the desire to further the greatness this city has to offer, along with other hometown favorites like Jack Brown Cleaners, Amy's Ice Cream and Texas French Bread. With each of these companies, the main factor behind their success is the quality they produce. The priority at Groovy Automotive is customer service - which requires doing the job expediently, doing it right the first time, and standing behind our work. We understand your vehicles are important, and downtime cost you time and money. Groovy Automotive is an honest garage with the experience and service necessary to take care of you and your business. We have been part of the Better Business Bureau since the day we opened our doors. We are environment friendly, recycling everything from oil filters to anti-freeze.

Dear Groovy Automotive,
I just want to express how thankful I am with your job WELL done, considering I had been told elsewhere my engine was shot and Don, found it was something much more minor. I thank you so much for a good job and for saving me OVER $500.00!!

Thanks,
Rita - April 2008

Wanted to thank you for helping my daughter, Ashli.
She had problems with her 93 Honda in May, and June. On both occasions your operation was outstanding. It's not always possible for me to be there to help her. It's really a sense of comfort to know she has a place to take her automobile.

Thank you again for your honesty, care, and concern in your work.

Sincerely,
Robert - July 19, 2000

I'm a huge fan of the guys at Groovy. I've been a client for 13 years! I refer all my family and friends to Groovy Automotive and Groovy Lube, they are fair, honest and take pride in thier work. If I ever have any questions or problems with the repairs they are always eager to help reconcile. I so no reason to go anywhere else!!!

I have been in this place two times, which seems like one time too many. Having worked on my own car i know something about it. The first time i wallowed into the place i asked them to replace my alternator, which they did, but as i found out later they took the three screws off the distributor and put ONE back on, leaving the cap dangling.
The next time i came it i simply asked them to investigate a leak. I knew that i had some radiator hoses that were leaking and that my radiator was dirty but what they told me was unreasonable. First of all the guy said "i hear clicking from your wheel so you'll need a new CV joint". How could he really be sure if the only "investigating" he did was roll the car 30 feet from the curb into the garage. I know for a fact there's no clicking, i drive that car every day.
The they told me i will need to replace my whole cooling system. This is partially true because i know my hoses are old but they told me i need to replace everything from the radiator to the thermostat. Not true, the radiator only goes when it's busted, a flush worked just fine. Lastly they told me it was going to be 1100 dollars?!?! Now i don't know how much a CV joint is but i know my radiator costs $100 and the hoses cost another $70 (i know because i just replaced them myself). Unless they were going to spend 10-12 hours replacing something something that takes me (a very inexperienced 'mechanic') 6 hours i think they might hold up the mechanic stereotype pretty well.
Overall, 2 stars is all you get groovy. Not very groovy at all.
