Gordy was born in the town of Sidney, NY. Population under 5000. His interest in photography started in a HS Chemistry class. At age 16 Gordy started taking pictures of friends and relatives. Soon the hospital asked him to take pictures of the new born babies. A new business was formed. After High School he moved to Buffalo to better his education and then open a real studio. That was 1969. Gordy has been requested to lecture to local schools as well as camera clubs and professional photographer organizations. His awards are numerous including the “NYS Award” given by the state to the photographer that has done the most to better photography. Two times Gordy has received the coveted “Court of Honor” award. This is highest award presented by the Professional Photographers Society of New York for outstanding photography.
