Fugakyu is the premiere spot for sushi in the Greater Boston area. As soon as you step in the door, the decor transports you to another world. The menu is extensive and has just about every type of sushi you could want. The atmosphere is great -- suitable for a romantic date or a birthday party. A lot of the tables are in private booths with closed doors so the whole place is very private. The submerged tables in the function rooms upstairs are really cool and a great place to dine with a group of friends.
You know you have good sushi when someone who just ran 21 miles is craving a spicy salmon roll. Thank you for being my motivation during the training for the Boston Marathon!
Not only is their food top rate - you can't beat the atmosphere of the private tables.
If you're most concerned with (and willing to pay for) décor and atmosphere, FuGaKyu may be right for you. If, however, you'd prefer larger portions of significantly better sushi for less money, (Why is this a conditional statement?) take a hike. ...A hike about, say, one block south, then two blocks west.
Any sushi I enjoy in Boston area always gets compared to Fugakyu when I am talking with friends. We all know it as the bar that others in town have a difficult goal to reach.
Best sushi in Boston! Hands down. Fugakyu has it all. The menu is huge and offers every thing and more. When it comes to fresh fish they are at the top of their game.
This is one of my favorite sushi places! I'm vegetarian and the pieces are absolutely wonderful!
