El Pelon has a great location near Fenway but far enough away to make it manageable during game days. The prices are cheap and the service stellar. Added bonus for outdoor seating (picnic tables). I usually get one of two things from El Pelon:

1) Fish Tacos -- very fresh, lightly fried fish served with pickled red cabbage, cucumbers and delicious crema. They give you three of them for under $6 -- now that's a deal.

2) El Guapo -- named after the 300 lb former Red Sox relief ace and fan favorite, Rich Garces, this hulking burrito has rice, black beans, cheese, steak, and fried plantains in it. Sound too good to be true? Often times it is. Don't get me wrong I love the El Guapo but the last 3-4 times I've ordered it they've been out of something (steak or plantains) -- it completely ruins the experience because you go in there CRAVING an El Guapo and you can't call an audible at the last second.

Bottom line, everything is delicious and cheap, but they only get four stars for continuously playing with my emotions re: El Guapo.

I love El Pelon! Whenever people talk about (other burrito place) being really good, I start asking if they ever have been to El Pelon. And then I take them there and we get el guapo and it is delicious. Everyone loves El Pelon once they get it! It's such an addiction.

The best, in a tie with Tacos Lupito. Any other place you want to eat, go to East Boston, Chelsea, Spanish Harlem, or Mexico and Central America.

The most authentic burritos in town. They grill the tortillas instead of steaming them which makes a huge difference

The burritos are huge, and the carnitas burrito is the best. I love their guacamole and they have some killer hot sauce.
