El Camino opened its doors in 1996, serving contemporary Mexican cuisine. After a few years and several visits to Mexico, we found that the traditional cuisine offered such rich complexities, we began to rethink our menu, starting from the bottom up. Marilyn Tausen, author and owner of “Culinary Adventures,” graciously introduced us to Ricardo Muñóz Zuita, accomplished Chef and published author residing in Mexico City. Ricardo first visited El Camino in the spring of 1999, and he returned in the fall of the same year. He worked long days in the El Camino kitchen during both visits, sharing his knowledge and passion with our entire kitchen staff.
