The development of Gelato began in Italy during the renaissance period. In the mid 1500's Bernardo Bountalenti, a well known Florentine architect, painter, and sculptor with a love of cuisine became the chef for the court of Medici. Bountalenti organized many scrumptious banquets and at the end of one meal, he unveiled his most famous invention, an exquisite frozen desert known as Gelato. So in 2004, this age old tradition has made a new home in San Antonio. Da Vinci Gelato and Caffe brings the art of Gelato to you.
