this is my business

The Coolidge Corner Theatre, one of Brookline’s treasured landmarks, is a fully-restored Art Deco movie palace. Showing movies the way they were meant to be seen since 1933, the Coolidge offers comfort, beauty and the chance to experience the best film and video programming around - from hot independents to classic revivals, to extraordinary selections of world cinema. As a not-for-profit arts institution, the Coolidge features first run arthouse films, including independent films, international cinema, and documentaries. We also do frequent revival series of cinema classics, midnight movies, and family and senior film programs.

I've seen my share of movies here and I've never had a bad experience. Love that they have a night devoted to Big Lebowski every year. I've been once, but it was the first time I've seen it on the big screen and it was just fantastic. Good prices and good staff. A complaint is that they seem almost too artsy; not many first run movies. The screens beyond the main room are incredibly small.

The Coolidge is a great cinema. They don't usually have the big first-run movies and specialize more in art-house or indie films; I say usually because every once in a while a big movie (No Country for Old Men comes to mind) shows up. The best part is that everything is C.H.E.A.P. -- popcorn for $2.50!

I've been seeing movies here for almost 25 years. The revived decor is amazing, the building is as much of an experience as the films!

The midnight movies alone make it one of the best indie theatres in the Boston area.
