Coolidge Corner has a nicer theater space, but Somerville Theater serves beer and has a better selection of movies. I love both, but my vote goes to Somerville.
It isn't only a great movie theatre, it looks old-fashioned and it is fun to sit and watch a movie in it! Great for birthday parties.
Great space, huge parking lot out back and located right on Moody Street's "Restaurant Row" for pre-film eats!
Last time I went there I wanted to see every movie playing there, literally. The movies rotate often so check out the website frequently!
OK - its not "indie" per se but they have a pretty good selection and great ambiance.
