This place has won Boston's Best Chowder a few times. You also don't have to deal with the Legal Seafood shtick --i.e. you can get a great cup of chowder and not have to pay $40 for the rest of your meal...

I ususally don't like large chains but their chowder is so good - so is their lobster bisque!

Irish Bar in JP with some of the best darned clam chowder in the city. Don't get me wrong, Legal Sea Foods is also very good, but the whole package at James's Game is the best.

Oh the Sail Loft. A laid back mecca in the middle of Boston. Definitely the best chowder I've had.
