If you're looking for something more than the typical--albeit solid--experience at a Ruth's Chris or Capital Grille, Stephen Starr's steakhouse is the place to go. The food and service are equal parts amazing, but its the atmosphere that really puts it over the top. I personally love the library decor, and where else do you get to choose your own steak knife before the meal?

Old school steak house at its best. The atmosphere may be a bit stuffy (leopard print carpeting?), but the steak is second to none. My personal favorite is the NY Strip (a pretty reasonable $35-40).

Barclay Prime is definitely the classiest joint in Center City. Verrrry pricey, but worth if for the splurge.
