Californos, a bistro-styled diner, opened for lunch on St Patrick's Day, 1988, operated by owners Terry and Brenda Burns. Dinner soon followed, on April Fool's day, and by October Californos was heralded by the Kansas City Star with a four-star dining review. During the 1990's the adjoining 1903 Trolly Barn was converted into a complimentary special occasion and event facility, complete with ballroom, banquet rooms and a three-level outdoor deck
