For ten years, the Blind Tiger showcased the best micro-beers in the world, turning our former location at Tenth Street and Hudson into an oasis for connoisseurs of small-batch brewing. Something was missing, however, and we couldn’t figure out what it was. The answer came when our lease ran out and we were replaced by a Starbuck’s. Coffee! Of course! Micro-beer is great, but we needed to expand our horizons. We were on our way with our coffees, but now we were hungry. While sipping the best mocha latte we had ever tasted, we realized we needed a fresh-baked muffin to go with it, and that the new Blind Tiger would not be complete until we had an artisanal food menu. Luckily one of our bartenders, Louise Leonard, had graduated from the French Culinary Institute and had been working as a private caterer. She too had fallen under the spell of great coffee, and she began formulating a menu of baked goods, funky pressed sandwiches and killer chili. Chef Louise uses regional ingredients such as Grafton Cheddar from Vermont and Ben’s Cream Cheese in Brooklyn. As you sample our fine coffees and artisanal foods, all served up in our hand-crafted setting, we hope you’ll feel right at home in the new Blind Tiger Ale House.
