The AJYAL Theatrical Group, under the direction of its founder, Najee Mondalek was founded in Michigan in 1988 and has successfully toured New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Houston, Chicago, Toledo, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Windsor, Sydney & Beirut. It is the first Arab-American theatrical group to "take the show on the road" and perform for Arab-American audiences in those cities. Most of AJYAL Theatrical Group' shows poke fun at the everyday lives of Arab-Americans, who have recently become citizens and who are desperately trying to blend into the mainstream of American culture. The plays serve as a forum to help people laugh at their mistakes and mishaps but also to come to terms with social issues facing Arab-Americans, such as their difficulties adjusting to a new culture and lifestyle. These performances, like music, art and other entertainment media, are an important piece of the fabric of Arab-American culture.

AJYAL Theatrical Group deserves to be named Detroit's best theatrical group because they offer a combination of realistic issues in a light-humored setting. They touch upon topics such as politics, religion, culture, assimilating into the fabrics of a host nation, the post 9/11 trauma faced by many Arabs and Muslims, and not to forget .. some sexual references here and there that only a mature audience will be able to pick up on. I give them 5 stars, for they are not just about providing a momentary laugh, but rather they will give you humor and satire with a much needed dose of reality.

amazing...we ordered the dvd's to Dubai...and we always watch it during driving the car...it's danger,but it worth loughing while driving with the family....wish you all the best luck...looking forward to hear from you for any new project....wish you all the best ...Maher El Bizri Dubai -UAE

These folks found a perfect way to gap the two worlds that we come from together. All their performances are realistic to our everyday life here in America. They are so funny that it makes the transition to this country easier especially for the older generation.

Although I did not understand most of their plays because I don't speak Arabic, I got the gist of it from reading the program. I am of Lebanese decent and maybe some day I will attempt to learn Arabic. I admire their intentions and motivations in presenting this play with humor. It's the best way to capture the essence of who we as Arab Americans really are or want to be. Good work.

As an arab american, I feel great to see a team like you performing creative plays stemming from the lifestyle and habits of the arabic community in Dearborn. They are extremely funny, entertaining, creative and show that the arab american in america is capable of doing an impressive job in the entertaining and art industry . I can only ask you to keep the good work and come up with new entertaining ideas.

AJYAL is the BEST theatrical group to come out of the states thus far. They are wonderfully funny and their shows are so realistic and therefore more hilarious than any other comedy I have ever watched. Great work.
