Created by the citizens of Montgomery County, Maryland, the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is dedicated to artists, educators and audiences of the world. The AFI Silver will present the richness of American and world cinema, exploring all forms of the moving image in the digital era and seeing the screen itself as a source of literacy, learning and vision for the future.

They try harder. They have intelligent, interested people working there who want to help. The theater seats are roomy and comfortable. They try to keep the programs vibrant and stimulating. I can never get there as often as they tempt me to! It is in that lively part of the ethnically varied new Silver Spring. The whole experience is a plus.

They show films that are not available as most theatres. The building houses one of the most beautiful art deco movie theatres in the area. The seats are very comfortable in all of the theatres, have excellent line of sight and the sound is perfect. We also get to visit with our neighbors before and after the films. We enjoy our membership to the AFI. They have interesting discussions with directors, actors and producers of some of the films. Many open at AFI before being shown elsewhere. They also have receptions that members are invited to.

Gorgeous restored theatre, especially the main screen, with 2 additional screens, State of the Art Projection and Sound, Brilliant lineup of classic, foreign and art films with a fine slate of first run films as well. Visiting film directors and notables for Q&A. The film fests, especially SilverDocs Documentary Film Fest, are world class. Easy to get to and park, on top of all that.

I took some out-of-town family to see "Labyrinth" at the AFI. They were really excited to be able to see the movie on a big screen again and ooooh and aaahhhed all through the movie. We arrived late so they didn't realize how amazing the restored art-deco theater was until the lights came up at the end. You should have seen their eyes light up! It's the great films, great experiences, and great space!

The seats, sound and screens are all top notch. Every seat is comfortable and accessible to most attendees. We also love that they offer a variety of films, the Silver Docs festival is a must see, and...they sell Haagen Daz ice cream bars.

Friendly staff is always available; it shows great movies in a wonderful city -- Silver Spring -- with interesting surroundings; the screen and seating is very comfortable (like a real theatre of days gone by).
