In March, 1981, Rick Haskett and Joe Martin formed a partnership and started Locksmith Ltd. Rick has previously worked 6 years in the locksmith industry at Baldwin Key and Bicycle Shop where he had met Joe, a retired air traffic controller and small business entrepreneur. In 1983, Locksmiths Ltd. purchased AAA Locksmiths, from Bruce Barfield and changed the company's name to AAA Locksmiths Ltd. From 1981 to 1985 AAA Locksmith remained relatively unchanged operating as a two man shop with Joe managing the shop and business details, while Rick provided sales and service "in the field".
